The PC-mobile phone application, which offers a full range of multimedia features, has chalked up almost 3000 downloads in the past month on one site alone, and has been earmarked as “popular” and earned special awards on many others.

The strength of CAMagic Mobile over its competitors is the advanced multimedia editing it offers for audio, images, and video. The multimedia specialists at Advanced and Wise Technology include powerful editing and conversion functions in the CAMagic Mobile software applets. The photo editor offers a choice of one-touch photo correction buttons, technology that was previously developed for A&W’s exclusive image enhancement software. The CD-Ripper lets users convert their real music digital files and CDs to phone-friendly formats, and image and video files are converted as necessary when they are uploaded to the phone.
Favor shown for PC-phone software with strong multimedia support should come as no surprise considering results of a recent survey that suggest growing demand for multimedia functions in mobile phones. In a study commissioned by Nokia, more than half (53%) of respondents from selected countries worldwide report that they take pictures with their phones on a regular basis, and 31% report recording videos. Just over one quarter (27%) of respondents say they currently use their phone as an MP3 player, and 44% use their mobile phone in place of a pocket diary.
Version 2.4.1 of CAMagic Mobile for Bluetooth phones is now available as trial software from A&W’s Online Shop, Download.com, and Tucows.com. Full installation software can be purchased from the A&W website. The USB data cable version of CAMagic Mobile is distributed in retail packages with Bluetooth dongles and USB cables.
CAMagic Mobile currently offers support for Microsoft® Windows® 2000, and Windows XP operating systems, and syncs with Microsoft Outlook® and Outlook Express. The Bluetooth edition is compatible with stack drivers from Toshiba, Broadcom, and IVT. Future releases will include support for Windows XP SP2 native stack driver and the Windows Vista™ operating system. |
